Two years later, Allison did not survive a second childbirth. She gave birth to a boy, and he was called Jonathan David. The years passed, and Harrison’s career did not take off as planned. After the death of his wife, he lost much of his ambition - but he tried to raise the children as best he could. Mary Elizabeth seemed to excel in all aspects of development. Whenever Daddy was around, she seemed to be the perfect child - but when Daddy was absent, she would taunt Jonathan. She derived satisfaction from making her younger brother cry in pain. This satisfaction extended to animals - she would trap neighbor’s pets and pelt them with sticks and stones. As she grew older, her behavior became worse. She would not only torture animals - she would execute them. One day, Jonathan witnessed her beating a dog with a walking stick and tried to stop her. He managed to free the dog before Mary turned the stick on him and knocked him unconscious. “I’m sick of you, little brother! I should have done this a long time ago!”, she screamed. She dragged Jonathan’s body and heaved it into the well. As it made a splash, she said “Now, I’m rid of you!”. She went chasing after the dog - through the trees and out onto a dirt road - right in front of a charging horse. Her body was trampled - her skull crushed by one of the hooves. The panicked rider, whiskey strong on his breath, scooped up the broken body and scrambled through the woods. He stumbled up to a lake and dumped the body into the water.... With the disappearance of his children, Harrison fell into a depression, and eventually committed suicide by hanging. The bodies of the children were never found......

As the years went by, the stretch of road where Mary had been killed was upgraded and became a regular thoroughfare. Strange sightings became commonplace, and the area was rumored to be haunted. A little girl standing by the side of the road - suddenly appearing in the center of the road - and then vanishing. Drivers stating that they ran into a child, only to have the body disappear. Some claimed she would follow them home and terrorize their own children. The accident rate at this lonely stretch of road rivaled dangerous intersections of major highways. On more than one occasion, a surviving passenger in a serious accident reported a young girl standing over the mangled corpse of another rider, her face contorted in a hideous smile......

Present Day: Ian Walker was driving home. He was tall and well-muscled, with dark hair and hard features. His wife had been diagnosed with breast cancer - and passed away five months ago. Ian was having difficulty coming to terms with her death. He began drinking and neglecting his 9 year old son, Daniel. He was currently on leave from his job - where he had just been promoted to detective for the Greenfield police department. At that moment, he realized his friends from the force were engaged in their weekly poker game. Sharon - who might be considered his girlfriend. She was a brunette, average in height and average in looks - but with a killer figure. Ed - his best friend from high school. Dark-blonde hair - medium height - putting on extra pounds since high school. And Jack and Joe, always arguing - but great for a laugh. Ian missed them all. If only he could get his life back together. If only he could be a better father for Daniel. His son had seemed to mature since his mom's death - Sometimes, it seemed like Daniel was more the father. Why did she have to get breast cancer?
